Murder of Richard Watkeys, bailiff, by striking him with a pitchfork in the eye whilst endeavouring to arrest prisoner. Deceased had called at a neighbour's house for a 'plaister' but there was none to be had but received 'a bit of shoemaker's wax as he could get no plaister which [was] applied to the Wound'. Prisoner fled. more
