The deceased had been carrying the prisoner's unborn child although the latter had offered the deceased's mother a guinea to 'swear the child to some other person'. The banns had been published but one examinant testifies that the prisoner had 'sworn a hundred times he would rot in iron before he would marry the deceased'. more
