Murder of Jane William otherwise Jane Phillip, prosecutor's daughter. Prisoner, 'intoxicated but not to a very great degree', had been comparing the length of his gun barrel with that of Lewis Jones, gent, with whom he had been shooting and drinking at prosecutor's inn called the Red Lion when the gun went off. Prisoner fled after the shooting, but apprehended. Described as an 'honest and good character'. more
