Murder of Evan Prees by stabbing him with a penknife. Deceased, prisoner and prisoner's father-in-law had been drinking together at prosecutor's inn, called the Star. Prisoner had been enlisted and taken by a sergeant and another soldier by force, but he later returned to the inn. A dispute arose later between the prisoner and the deceased who were riding the same horse as prisoner's father-in-law and the deceased was struck by a stick. The horse was stabbed and broached with a knife. Prisoner appeared dishevelled - 'without coat, waistcoat or hat and with only one buckle to his shoes.....and a very dirty shirt and short, dark brown, lank hair.....hisage is between 27 and 30 and is about 5 feet 6 inches high - that he hath a long chin with a deep dent between it and his lip and dark eyebrows.' more
