Murder by poisoning of Elizabeth Jones, spinster, aged 19, prosecutor's daughter, with arsenic - mercury according to symptoms. Prisoner had been 'in the habit of sitting up with the deceased in [her] house for the purpose of courting her as is customary in the country' and had persuaded deceased who was expecting his child to take a mixture of a grey liquid with water 'for purging her blood'. Substance bought from Joseph Yeomans, Llangadog, surgeon, at Llandeilo Fawr May fair. Prisoner brought in this same surgeon to tend deceased before her own doctor, Nathaniel Rees, Llandeilo Fawr, surgeon. Second count of poisoning deceased with savin, with intent to procure an abortion. Deceased died, having miscarried, on 26.5.1816. more
