Cardigan, Llandyfr

Murder of David David, Llandysiliogogo, with a bayonet. Prisoner, with others in Cardiganshire militia had marched from Carmarthen en route to Cardigan. Prisoner and two others 'very much concerned in liquor'. A fight ensued a quarrel outside an inn at Newcastle Emlyn, co. Carm. One John Jones suspected also, but not indicted. Prisoner a "'alloted man - never punished whilst a soldier' and 'a very honest fellow'. Judge Beard noted: 'I respited him till after the next Great Sessions being of the opinion that the crime as proved was only manslaughter, tho' a foul manslaughter, and he was afterwards pardoned'. more
